Jung Hae-in and Ha Young lead Netflix K-drama 'This Damn Love,' dropping August 7

Netflix's 이런 엿같은 사랑 (This Damn Love) launches globally on August 7. Jung Hae-in and Ha Young lead the romantic comedy, directed by Kim Jang-han.

Jung Hae-in plays Jang Tae-ha, a boxing coach with ties to organized crime. Ha Young is Go Eun-sae, an elite prosecutor. Heo Sung-tae plays Baek Sang-gil, the organization's boss and Jang Tae-ha's former superior—the villain of the piece.

Director Kim Jang-han called it "a romantic comedy you can enjoy comfortably." He said the show captures "the relationship of two people who, like taffy, cannot easily separate once they stick together."

Jung Hae-in described his character as "the epitome of a devoted lover." He worked to show the emotional and attitudinal shifts between Jang Tae-ha's two worlds: hungry boxer and organization executive. Ha Young noted that Go Eun-sae loses her memory and returns to her true self, a process she found "touching." The character "does hateful things" but "cannot be hated." Heo Sung-tae said his main challenge was balancing the gap between Baek Sang-gil's public face and his real nature.

Jung Hae-in's recent work has solid numbers behind it. His tvN drama 엄마친구아들 peaked at 8.5% viewership (floor: 4.0%). Netflix series D.P. ranked #1 in South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. Ha Young has been steadily raising her profile. She played nurse Cheon Jang-mi in 중증외상센터 in January of last year, then teacher Choi Ga-yoon in 참교육 last month.

This Damn Love is the third Netflix Korea romantic series this year. 이 사랑 통역 되나요? (Kim Seon-ho, Go Yoon-jung) arrived in January. 월간남친 (Jisoo) dropped in March.
