Kim Jun-su holds first-ever fan concert 13 years into career, premieres debut mini-album track

Kim Jun-su staged his first-ever solo fan concert on July 4 at Ewha Womans University's ECC Samsung Hall in Seoul. Two shows ran at 1 PM and 6 PM. He used the occasion to premiere the title track from his debut mini-album—13 years into his career.

The concert doubled as a showcase. Kim wanted fans to hear the new song first, framing the event as both a fan meeting and a release stage. This marks his first solo album under his own name since joining the National Changgeuk Company in 2013, despite earlier appearances on recordings for 풍류대장, 현역가왕2, collaboration projects, and a National Gugak Center release.

The production scaled up considerably. A large-scale live band performed alongside him (described as unusual for this format). Kim prepared a large-group choreography set himself. Surprise guests he personally recruited were announced for the bill. Crea Studio hosted the concert. Roadshow Entertainment produced it.

Kim's credentials run deep in traditional Korean music. He is a certified successor of Jeollanam-do Intangible Cultural Property Pansori Sugungga and won the Grand Prize at the 2021 KBS National Korean Music Awards. He is currently playing the lead role of Dongho in the musical 서편제 through July 19, and is scheduled to perform in the changgeuk 살로메 in August.

"I prepared my first fan concert very richly to repay the love I have received from fans," Kim said. "I hope it becomes a gift-like time for those who waited."
