PSY's 'Gangnam Style' hits 6 billion YouTube views, 14 years after upload

Gangnam Style reached 6 billion YouTube views on July 17, 2026. That's 14 years after PSY uploaded it on July 15, 2012.

The video crossed 5 billion on December 30, 2023. So it took roughly 2 years and 7 months to rack up the next billion—a notable pace for a clip that's been online for over a decade.

Back in December 2012, Gangnam Style became the first video ever to hit 1 billion views. The same year it dropped. It also spent 7 consecutive weeks at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

PSY marked the 6 billion milestone at his Gwacheon concert on July 18, part of the 싸이흠뻑쇼 SUMMERSWAG2026 tour. He wore a light blue jacket and black bow tie—matching the original music video—and told the crowd he'd upload the concert footage to YouTube "as a thank you video for 6 billion views."

The SUMMERSWAG2026 run started June 27 at Uijeongbu Sports Complex and covers 9 cities across 14 performances. Daegu, Incheon, and Seoul Grand Park (July 17–18) are already done. Wonju comes July 25, then Suwon, Gwangju, and Busan. The tour wraps August 22 and 23 in Daejeon.
