CGV loads August with K-concert films: ATEEZ, TXT VR, Band Touched, and more

CGV has packed August with concert films and music documentaries from ATEEZ, Jang Gi-ha, Japanese rock band Spyair, and Band Touched. The slate reflects how quickly the live-film format is taking hold in Korea.

Band Touched's Touched Concert [Highlight IV]: The Movie hits CGV on August 26. The film pulls from the group's solo concert HIGHLIGHT IV, held in January. It's more than stage footage—there are concert planning meetings, rehearsal room sessions, full rehearsals, and member interviews. Director Seo Hyun-gyu spent the most time on sound, given Touched's identity as a band. The mix went through multiple revisions, with all members attending 5.1-channel preview screenings.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER's VR concert arrives August 31, screening exclusively at Lotte Cinema's World Tower and Hongdae branches.

Trot singer Jung Dong-won also released a concert film—Jung Dong-won Fan Concert Film: Meeting Again—at CGV ahead of his military enlistment. Fan nicknames and messages appeared in the ending credits.

CGV's SCREENX format uses three screens covering the front and both side walls, conveying stage scale in three dimensions. 4DX pairs motion chairs, wind, lighting, and vibrations synced to the music's rhythm.

Global concert film distributor Trafalgar Releasing has established a Korean subsidiary to expand its K-content business. Director Seo explained the shift: "Performances used to be one-time content where the experience disappeared when the performance ended, but now we view performances themselves as intellectual property." Systematic documentation from planning through rehearsals and behind-the-scenes footage can extend into films, OTT, Blu-ray, short-form content, and exhibitions. The concert doesn't end at the venue anymore.
