Epik High's EPIKASE brings together BIGBANG's G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung for a "family reunion"

Epik High released the "Family Reunion ft. BIGBANG" episode of their YouTube series EPIKASE on August 20. G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung sat down with Tablo, Mithra Jin, and DJ Tukutz to celebrate BIGBANG's comeback.

The six listened to BIGBANG's new single BiiiG together. Tablo, who had previously pledged that Epik High would drop an album if BIGBANG dropped one, deadpanned: "Thanks for putting out a single instead of an album."

Stories tumbled out. Tablo admitted he once bragged to rookie-era BIGBANG that his monthly allowance was 20 million won—pure bluffing, he now says, because "we weren't even a mid-sized company; we were a small one" and he didn't want to look intimidated by the YG newcomers. Taeyang recalled spotting Tablo at an outdoor music show rehearsal in pajamas. "I guess when you're at that level, you can do that," he thought.

Asked whether he'd ever felt pride in being BIGBANG, G-Dragon kept it low-key: "It's just being with people I see every day." Tukutz got a laugh when Tablo asked if he'd ever wished he were Kwon Jiyong. "Hasn't everyone, at least once?" Tukutz answered.

The warmth flowed both ways. Tukutz told BIGBANG, "When I think about my 20s and 30s, your songs were always there—like the BGM of that whole era." Tablo added, "There's something emotional about your comeback. We're not BIGBANG, but at the same time it feels like we are too," and G-Dragon replied, "I think that energy is coming back to us."

(Tukutz also warned viewers that hitting "like" generates press coverage; Tablo countered, "Don't like carelessly—it's worth more than you think.")
