Gri Opens Up About Marriage Fears as Father Kim Gura, Rhymer, and Hong Jin-kyung All Divorced

On August 21, Gri uploaded a video titled 여러분 저 이제 결혼하려구요 ("Everyone, I'm thinking of getting married now") to her YouTube channel 김그리. She spoke openly about why tying the knot feels so complicated.

Gri is currently in a public relationship with a non-celebrity partner. In the video, she laid out the problem plainly: "I meet someone I like, I have money, we understand each other well, and all of this needs to match — but some things match and some don't." She added that waiting for everything to align perfectly before marrying might itself be unfair to the other person.

Guest Nam Chang-hee pushed back with a blunter warning: "You might end up having a funeral and wedding together later." His advice was simple. Focus on one thing. "Just look at the fact that there's a good person and go with that."

The conversation turned heavier when Gri counted the divorces in her immediate circle. Her father, broadcaster Kim Gura, divorced in 2015 and has since remarried a younger non-celebrity, with whom he has a youngest daughter. Music executive Rhymer and broadcaster Hong Jin-kyung have also both gone through divorce. "Why is only my surroundings in pain?" Gri said.

Nam Chang-hee offered some statistical comfort: "These days, 1 out of 3 couples experience pain." Gri wasn't buying it. "In my case, 3 out of 3 couples experienced pain," she replied. Nam Chang-hee's counter was that those same households each have two happy families now, and that's what she should be looking at.
