Hwasa reveals she had no idea who Jensen Huang was when Nvidia CEO shouted her out

Mamamoo's Hwasa had no idea who Jensen Huang was.

On the August 9 episode of SBS My Ugly Duckling (aired 9 PM), Hwasa revealed that when the Nvidia CEO first gave her a public shoutout, she was genuinely confused about who he was. The admission landed hard given that Huang is the CEO of the world's most valuable company by market cap.

Huang visited Korea in June and appeared on tvN You Quiz on the Block, where he declared himself a fan: "I liked the song Good Good Bye. I also like the new song So Cute." He added, "I love Hwasa's music very much. Hwasa is very charming," and called her "an excellent dancer" with "wonderful vocal ability." Host Yoo Jae-suk reacted on the spot: "Oh my, Hwasa's So Cute will blow up again. Hwasa, you're lucky — Chairman Jensen Huang even knows your new song."

Hwasa said the shoutout generated more contact than winning first place on a music broadcast. She also confirmed she sent Huang a handwritten thank-you letter in response to his repeated mentions. (Huang had visited Naver's 1784 headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi on June 8 during the same Korea trip.)

The episode also follows Hwasa and her close friend, model Han Hye-jin, on a day out at Namdaemun Market. Han Hye-jin picked the spot specifically for Hwasa, who has been busy with a world tour. The market draws the MZ generation for its bath products. After shopping, the two head to Deokja Jjim, Hwasa's regular restaurant. Its gopchang, soy sauce crab, and kimbukkak have previously sold out after her mukbang content. They work through soy sauce crab bibimbap and a full order of Deokja Jjim. MC Seo Jang-hoon, watching from the studio, said: "Even if I went there, I could last 2 hours."

Hwasa had also performed at Psy Humbuk Show Summer Swag 2026 at Uijeongbu Sports Complex on June 27.
