Jennie took 1st place on Mnet M Countdown on August 6 with Less than a Lover. Her second consecutive weekly win on the show. Her second music broadcast win overall for the track.
Globally, the song landed at No. 11 on Billboard's Global (excl. US) chart and No. 26 on the Global 200. Spotify's Weekly Top Songs Global placed it at No. 66. The Spotify Daily Top Songs chart put it in the upper tier across multiple countries including South Korea and Malaysia.
Less than a Lover hit No. 1 on iTunes in 27 countries and regions—Vietnam, Chile, Indonesia, and Peru among them. That's the highest iTunes No. 1 country count of any K-pop solo release this year. Apple Music's Top Songs chart also placed it in the top tier in Singapore, Cambodia, and Laos.
In China, the song topped all three major platforms: QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, and KuGou Music. It was the only female solo single released this year to earn Gold certification on QQ Music. Back home, it swept the Bugs real-time chart, Apple Music's Today's TOP 100: South Korea, and YouTube Korea's trending videos chart.
Jennie co-wrote and co-composed the track. Lo-fi guitar and vintage electric keyboard anchor the production, landing in alternative pop territory. The concept sits in that ambiguous space between lovers and friends on a summer night.
She is also scheduled to perform at Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan.
