Episode 10 of JTBC's dating reality show featured a couple 40 days in who went from talking marriage to the brink of a breakup — over a water festival.

Lee Hyo-ri had one request on the August 31 episode of JTBC's Yeonae Jeonjaeng (Love War): take her to Waterbomb. She asked fellow guest Seo Jang-hoon, "What kind of place is it? Has this year's Waterbomb ended?" Then came the pitch: "Want to go to Waterbomb together? Let's go together."
Seo Jang-hoon suggested they go to perform. She wasn't interested. "I want to enjoy it, not perform."
The show pairs three experts—Lee Hyo-ri, Seo Jang-hoon, and Kim Hee-chul—who watch couples in crisis and vote on whether they should stay together or split. This episode also brought in actress Kim Ji-eun as a special diplomatic commentator, assessed as an INTP "Gungye type" (someone who reads others' intentions arbitrarily).
The couple at the center of episode 10: Kim Ye-ri, an engineering student nicknamed "Sungdae Shin Se-kyung," and Lee Seong-jun, who placed 3rd in Mr. Seoul National University. Forty days into dating, they had apparently discussed marriage. Then the Waterbomb festival became the thing that nearly ended them.
Lee Hyo-ri told Lee Seong-jun not to project other people's past problems onto his current partner. Seo Jang-hoon watched the couple's back-and-forth drag on. Eventually he just said it: "Please break up."
(Whether the Waterbomb invite to Seo Jang-hoon was serious remains unclear.) Yeonae Jeonjaeng airs every Monday at 9:50 PM on JTBC.
