Red Velvet's 'Surfin' Boy' wins Show! Champion 9 days after 'Velvet Summer' drop

Red Velvet claimed the top spot on MBC M's Show! Champion on August 12 with Surfin' Boy, the title track off their summer mini-album Velvet Summer, released August 3.

Nine days into the comeback. Their first complete-group return since Cosmic in June 2024 — roughly two years and two months between full-unit promotions. Joy wrote the lyrics for Surfin' Boy solo. The album also includes the b-side Hula Hoop.

Before the music came a fan concert, 2026 Red Velvet FAN-CON: A Day in Red & Velvet, held July 31 through August 2 at Korea University's Hwajung Gymnasium in Seoul. Original dates sold out fast. Added shows filled to capacity. On August 1, the group's 12th debut anniversary, members and fans blew out candles on a commemorative cake together during the show.

Once Velvet Summer promotions wrap, the members will move into individual schedules.
