Im Chang-jung stopped by MBC FM4U's Trot Radio on Sept 10 to perform trot versions of his hits and pitch a full film adaptation of the 'Soju Han Jan' music video.

Im Chang-jung dropped a quiet bombshell on MBC FM4U's 손태진의 트로트 라디오 (Sontaejin's Trot Radio) on September 10, 2026: he wants to turn the music video for his signature track 소주 한 잔 (Soju Han Jan) into a film. "If there is an opportunity, I want to do it," he said on parts 3 and 4 of the broadcast. During the show he performed 소주 한 잔 as a requested song, telling the audience, "I will sing it for you as many times as you want."
The appearance turned into a full accounting of his catalog's genre roots. Im Chang-jung told host Son Tae-jin that 문을 여시오 (Mun-eul Yeosio) is trot outright. 이미 나에게로 (Imni Naege-ro), which he performs as a ballad, can also be read as trot. "Many of my songs have roots in trot," he said. Because of that foundation, trot arrangements feel natural across his discography. He proved it live, performing 내가 저지른 사랑 (Naega Jeojireunn Sarang) in an impromptu trot version on air.
The conversation shifted to 탓탓탓 (Ttat-Ttat-Ttat), his semi-trot track with EDM elements released in July 2026. Im Chang-jung revealed the lyrics came out of a drinking session with a bestselling author who also wrote them. On the song's message, he said: "If you do anything sincerely, there is nothing you cannot do."
His wider hit list — 이미 나에게로, 또 다시 사랑 (Tto Dasi Sarang), 그때 또 다시 (Geuttae Tto Dasi), and 내가 저지른 사랑 — came up throughout the broadcast as the conversation moved between genre labels and live performance. The trot-or-ballad debate around his catalog has clearly been running for a while, and he's finally just settling it himself.
