Im Chang-jung reveals how '그때 또 다시' was almost a Solid song
Im Chang-jung, a 30-year veteran, appeared on MBN's '빈칸 채우기' and revealed how a noraebang run-in with Lee Byung-hun led to his 1997 five-week chart-topper.

The song that almost went to Solid
Im Chang-jung opened his October 12 appearance on MBN's 빈칸 채우기 with 그때 또 다시 — then spent the episode explaining why he almost never recorded it.
Kim Hyung-seok (김형석) had composed the track as a gift for Solid. Im was in a noraebang the night before the handoff, drinking with actor Lee Byung-hun, when Lee started singing 아름다운 이별 in the next room. After the first verse, the door flew open. "'Byung-hun, who is that person?'" Kim asked — and introduced himself to Im on the spot.
"The mood was similar to a song I liked, so I was moved to tears with gratitude. This song was born that way."
Released in 1997, 그때 또 다시 hit number one for five consecutive weeks. Im closed the broadcast with another signature, 소주 한 잔.
30 years in, still watching the impressionists
In his 30th year as a recording artist, Im keeps tabs on his imitators. When MC Park Hak-gi (박학기) asked whether he searches YouTube for impressionists doing his voice, Im said yes — then turned to the comedians in the room: "If I catch you, I won't let it slide." (Joking. Probably.)
His most recent release is 탓탓탓, out in July 2026, a semi-trot track that blends dance, EDM, and trot elements. 빈칸 채우기 airs Mondays at 10:20 PM on MBN.
