Lovelyz's Yoo Ji-ae to marry actor Kwak Si-yang in November

Surprise announcement, private ceremony planned

Lovelyz member Yoo Ji-ae and actor Kwak Si-yang announced on September 3 that they will marry. The ceremony is set for November 28—just the two families, relatives, and close acquaintances.

Their agencies released a joint statement: "The two people promised a future based on deep trust and love for each other." Yoo Ji-ae was born in 1993, Kwak Si-yang in 1987. They dated for approximately one year before going public.

They met at a hair salon and bonded over their shared support of the Doosan Bears baseball team.

Yoo Ji-ae posted directly to fans: "I found someone I want to cherish and rely on, and spend time together with going forward, and promised a good new beginning. I will continue to show you working hard in my place without change."

Every Lovelyz member flooded the comments. Youngest member Jeong Ye-in wrote, "You said you'd marry me... I loved you Ji-ae"—the line that became the story's headline. Jin, currently outside Korea, promised, "Congratulations our unnie. When I go to Korea I'll meet you right away. How pretty will it be." K (Kim Ji-yeon) and Seo Ji-su both sent congratulations. Lee Mi-ju dropped a string of celebration emojis alongside her own.

(The foreshadowing was already there: in November 2024 on SBS Power FM's Bae Seong-jae's Ten, Yoo Ji-ae named Kwak Si-yang as one of her current favorite actors.)

Who they are

Yoo Ji-ae debuted in 2013 with Lovelyz. The group produced Ah-Choo, Destiny, and Hi~. She later moved to YG Kplus and added acting to her resume, appearing in The Third Marriage, Kkanjuk Pocha, Mr. Vladi, and 1 Degree-less Man.

Kwak Si-yang was born in 1987 and works as an actor.
