Eric Nam hits BIFF solo for a Paramount x HYBE film

Eric Nam walked the red carpet alone at the 31st Busan International Film Festival opening ceremony on October 6 at Busan Cinema Center's Roof Theater. He was there as a cast member of K-Pop: The Debut, a co-production between Paramount Pictures and HYBE America.

The film follows a young Korean-American woman competing on a TV survival show to find the next generation K-pop girl group. Eric Nam stars alongside Yu Ji-tae and Kang So-ra. K-Pop: The Debut is scheduled for release in the first half of 2027.

Fourth album incoming — pre-orders open today

The BIFF appearance lands in the middle of a busy stretch. On October 3, Eric Nam performed at the 2026 Art Forest Festival WITH Background Live at Seoul Children's Grand Park in Gwangjin-gu. He recently released the single Someday. His 4th full-length album, Confessions of a Lonely Heart, drops October 16 through music streaming sites, with pre-orders opening October 6.

The U.S. run that got him here

The past year has been unusually wide-ranging for him. He finished 3rd on Peacock's reality survival show The Traitors Season 4. He appeared as a special guest on NBC's America's Got Talent Season 21. He voiced a character in the animated film Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender. He also attended the 2027 S/S New York Fashion Week and the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.

(Four projects across film, animation, reality TV, and a full-length album in one cycle is a lot, even by K-pop crossover standards.)

All of that leads into Confessions of a Lonely Heart on October 16.
