HYNN crashes Konkuk University festival in surprise duet with comedian Yoo Young-woo
HYNN surprised comedian Yoo Young-woo on stage at Konkuk University's festival on Oct. 24, performing two songs together after their YouTube collab crossed 2 million views.
A YouTube friendship lands on a festival stage
HYNN (박혜원) and comedian Yoo Young-woo took their online chemistry offline on Oct. 24, when HYNN made a surprise appearance during Yoo Young-woo's set at Konkuk University's campus festival, which aired on MBC's Omniscient Interfering View.
Yoo had been performing HYNN's hit 시든 꽃에 물을 주듯 (Watering a Withered Flower) when, mid-second-verse chorus, HYNN walked out. The two locked in on a high-note harmony that drew a full crowd reaction. They kept going: HYNN stayed on stage for her new title track 3일 후 (After 3 Days), turning a solo comedian's set into a proper duet showcase.
The pairing traces back to 정준힐의 야간비행 (Jung Jun-hill's Night Flight), a corner on Yoo Young-woo's YouTube channel YOO'S DESK. The duet videos of both 시든 꽃에 물을 주듯 and 3일 후 have crossed 2 million cumulative views. That's the kind of number that earns a real-world stage.
여름결 and what's in it
The festival moment doubles as a live promo run for HYNN's new EP 여름결 (Summer Knot), which she recently released. 3일 후 is the title track. The EP also includes 운석이 떨어져 종말이 찾아온 것도 아닌데 (It's Not Like a Meteor Fell and the Apocalypse Came), a pop R&B track. (That song title alone is doing a lot of heavy lifting.)
