ILLIT's 'Magnetic' hits 900M Spotify streams fastest among K-pop group debut songs
'Magnetic' hit 903M Spotify streams by Oct. 18, the fastest any K-pop group debut song has ever reached that milestone.

900 million streams, fastest debut in K-pop
ILLIT's debut single Magnetic passed 903,351,494 cumulative Spotify streams as of October 18. No K-pop group debut song has reached 900 million plays on the platform faster. (One outlet listed the figure differently, but the 903M reading appears in two of the three sources.)
Released in March 2024 as the title track of ILLIT's first mini album SUPER REAL ME, the song blends Pluggnb and house genres. The lyrics compare attraction to magnetism. The choreography centers on finger movements. It topped major domestic music charts and became the first K-pop group debut song to enter both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Top 100 simultaneously. It was also the fastest to do so.
Certifications across three markets
The milestones kept coming well past the initial release window. On October 2, the British Phonographic Industry awarded Magnetic Silver certification, which in the UK requires 200,000 combined units across digital downloads and streaming. In August, the Japan Record Association certified the track Triple Platinum in the streaming category after it surpassed 300 million cumulative plays there. No song by an overseas female artist has reached that threshold in Japan faster.
BREAK EVEN drops October 26
ILLIT — members Yoon A, Minju, Moka, Won-hee, and Iroha — previewed what comes next at their encore tour ILLIT LIVE 'PRESS START♥' ENCORE in KOREA, held October 17–18 at Incheon Inspire Arena. The group performed 체포하겠어 (working romanization: "Chaepohagesseo") for the first time live. It's the title track from their upcoming fifth mini album BREAK EVEN, due October 26. The track is an electro-pop song built around a whistle sound, with choreography that incorporates actual whistles. The label described it as having strong addictiveness and an upbeat beat.
The album title BREAK EVEN refers to the break-even point of a relationship — neither loss nor gain.
