NMIXX drop 'Strange Muse' on Oct 19 with group's first-ever unit tracks
NMIXX's sixth mini album arrives October 19 with three debut unit pairings and a title track layered in dreamy narration and a rising melody.
Six members, three units, one first
NMIXX's sixth mini album Strange Muse drops October 19. The biggest news isn't the title track.
For the first time since debut, the group is releasing unit songs. Three pairings. Three tracks: LILY and HAEWON on 너는 달 (Sing to the Moon), SULLYOON and BAE on Hot 'n Unbothered, and JIWOO and KYUJIN on 휙 (WHIP). All six members wrote lyrics for their respective unit tracks; KYUJIN also took a composing credit on hers.
The full tracklist confirmed so far:
- 긴 소원 (Birthday Wish) — title track
- Kerosene
- RudE TaLK
- 너는 달 (Sing to the Moon) — LILY, HAEWON
- Hot 'n Unbothered — SULLYOON, BAE
- 휙 (WHIP) — JIWOO, KYUJIN
What each unit is saying
긴 소원 (Birthday Wish) is built on dreamy narration and a melody that builds progressively. No further production details were shared.
LILY and HAEWON described 너는 달 as a ballad they shaped carefully around tone and emotional delivery. "If you like ballads, we hope you listen to this."
SULLYOON and BAE pitched their unit as something different. "We think we can show a cool yet mature charm in a new way," they said. "We will show you the chemistry between just the two of us."
JIWOO and KYUJIN — the group's maknae line — leaned into the energy angle, describing 휙 (WHIP) as a track that puts their strong vocals and intensity front and center. They also said they want to explore different member combinations and unit atmospheres if the opportunity comes (which reads like a soft campaign for more unit content, and honestly, fair).
The rollout so far
NMIXX opened an acapella highlight medley featuring all six members' voices ahead of the album, then followed on October 15 with an original highlight medley containing portions of the actual tracks, posted to official SNS. Strange Muse releases October 19.
