SEVENTEEN's Hoshi drops solo single 'BOYFRIEND' while on military service
Hoshi releases R&B pop single 'BOYFRIEND' on October 10, his first solo track in roughly four months, written while serving in the Army Taekwondo Demonstration Unit.

Hoshi's first solo drop in four months
SEVENTEEN's Hoshi released solo single BOYFRIEND on October 10 across online music platforms. The track arrives roughly four months after SNAPBACK, his birthday self-composed release in June.
BOYFRIEND is an R&B-based pop song built around shuffle rhythm groove and a refreshing synthesizer sound. It expresses the desire to carefully approach someone you like with pure, unguarded feelings. Hoshi co-wrote the lyrics himself, channeling the unfamiliar excitement and youthful inexperience of early love into direct, unadorned language.
The release extends a solo run that started with the 2021 mixtape Spider. Hip-hop (TAKE A SHOT), dramatic narrative (Fallen Superstar), romantic pop (아기자기), and old-school guitar (SNAPBACK) came next. BOYFRIEND is the R&B chapter.
The context: surgery, service, and still releasing
Hoshi entered the Army Training Center in September of last year and has been serving in the Army Taekwondo Demonstration Unit. On the 12th of last month he posted on Weverse that he suffered a complete anterior cruciate ligament tear in his knee during a ground forces performance team practice and is currently focused on surgery and rehabilitation.
(The fact that he co-wrote the lyrics while navigating all of that is worth sitting with.) For fans tracking his recovery, BOYFRIEND dropping at all matters.
SEVENTEEN's individual activity calendar stays packed around him. Jun's Chinese EP 9 dropped September 28. Jeonghan and Joshua's joint mini-album DREAMSCAPE is scheduled for October 19.
