The Bossam Spot Near Gangnam Station That Keeps Selling Out

Chloé Martin·6/28/2026, 5:31:06 PM

There's a bossam restaurant in Seocho-dong, about 250 meters from Gangnam Station, that has been pulling in regulars long enough to earn a reputation well beyond the neighborhood. It's the kind of place that already had a following before any camera crew showed up — it had previously been featured on a separate food program for its jae-bok jaengban (a seasoned pork platter) and deulgireum makguksu (perilla oil buckwheat noodles), so bossam isn't even the only reason people line up here.

Bossam, for the uninitiated, is slow-boiled pork belly and shoulder, sliced and served with napa cabbage kimchi, fresh oysters, and a spread of condiments — you wrap a piece of pork in a cabbage leaf, pile on whatever you like, and eat it in one bite. The kimchi here apparently upstages the pork itself: even guests who came specifically for the bossam ended up fixating on the kimchi, which tells you something about how well it's made. At a good bossam spot, the kimchi isn't a side note — it's doing equal work on the table.

The location puts it squarely in the Gangnam-area orbit, which means it's easy to fold into a day that already includes Gangnam Station shopping or a walk through Seocho. It's not a hidden alley find — this is a restaurant that's been around long enough to build a loyal crowd, and the fact that it's appeared on multiple food programs without losing that neighborhood-regular energy is a good sign. Expect a wait at peak meal times; this is not a walk-in-whenever situation.

If you're planning a Seoul food day around this area, the restaurant is worth anchoring your dinner around rather than treating as a quick stop. Order the bossam, but pay attention to the kimchi — and if the jae-bok jaengban or perilla oil noodles are on the menu the day you visit, those are the other reasons this place has a reputation.
