Hatsune Miku Thanksgiving Festival pop-up: Hongdae's best indoor rainy-day plan
If you've caught yourself deep in anime or vocaloid culture, Hatsune Miku is the icon that probably soundtracked your teenage years—and this pop-up is proof that character fandoms in Seoul go way beyond merch tables. The second Miku Thanksgiving Festival (titled "Our Happy Time") landed in Hongdae, and it's genuinely worth planning around if you're in Seoul May 29 through June 7.
The pop-up lives inside Rezonne, a 2-minute walk from Hongdae Station Exit 3. It spans three zones: a ground-floor goods section, a second-floor exhibition space that feels like a mini paid museum (not just shelves of figures), and a separate annex with photo booths and additional displays. The layout is generous and thoughtfully designed—this isn't a cramped merch-dump situation.

On the goods front, expect the full range: oversized plushies, rubber keychains, stickers, keychains, and fashion items like t-shirts. The blogger visited during the run and noted that t-shirts were nearly sold out by mid-event—sizes and colors disappearing fast—so if apparel is your target, hit it first. Other items had lighter stock but were still available. The annex carried overflow merch, so you get a second pass if the main floor is picked over.

The exhibition floor is the real draw. Instead of just displays, you get actual artwork installations, character panels set up for photos, and a dedicated photo zone where you can pose with Miku herself (or her likeness). There's also a message wall where fans write their love notes—the kind of participatory space that makes you feel like you're part of a community, not just consuming. The annex includes a photo booth service (인생네컷, a Korean instant-print photo setup), which had a small queue but was moving.

Practically: entry is by advance reservation OR same-day waitlist. If you book ahead (which the blogger recommends), you can walk in with zero wait during off-peak hours—they visited at 7 PM on a weekday with a reservation and got straight in. Bring ID to prove your booking. No parking on-site, but luggage can be stored in the subway station. Hours are 11 AM to 8:30 PM daily. The space is indoors, so it's perfect for a Seoul day when the weather turns.

Who is this for? The blogger went in skeptical—"is this only for superfans?"—and came away saying non-fans can enjoy it too. The exhibition and photo zones have visual appeal beyond just merchandise, and the whole vibe is welcoming rather than gatekeeping. That said, if you're not familiar with Miku at all, it'll be a shorter visit; the real magic happens when you recognize the character and the cultural weight she carries in anime and music circles.

One note: weekday evenings seem calmer than opening weekend. The blogger's first attempt (Friday evening, 8 PM) hit a full waitlist and couldn't get in. The second visit (Tuesday, 7 PM) with a pre-booked slot was smooth. If you're flying in and want to guarantee entry without hours of waiting, book your time slot in advance.
