Booking.com data shows K-pop tour dates triggering triple- and quadruple-digit hotel search spikes across eight Asia-Pacific cities, from Kaohsiung to Melbourne.

Accommodation searches in Kaohsiung, Taiwan spiked more than 1,000% year-on-year during November 18–23, when a seven-member K-pop group played three nights on November 19, 21, and 22. It was the sharpest jump in a Booking.com analysis spanning eight Asia-Pacific cities.
The rest of the cities followed the same pattern, just less extreme. Melbourne, hosting a concert in February next year, saw searches climb more than 670%. Jakarta hit 620%-plus. Sydney reached 480%-plus. Hong Kong landed at 290%-plus. Kuala Lumpur came in at 200%-plus.
Japanese travelers ranked in the top three search origins for all eight cities. Australian and Philippine travelers appeared in the top ten everywhere. Kazakhstan emerged as an unexpected player—5th in Bangkok, 4th in Kuala Lumpur, 9th in Jakarta. UK and US travelers cracked the top ten in Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, and Hong Kong. Korean travelers tied for 8th in Kaohsiung, Melbourne, and Sydney during their respective concert windows.
The numbers match how fans actually plan. Lee Yun-ah, a 28-year-old office worker from a provincial city, explained it simply: "When a concert schedule is set, I plan my vacation around that city." She books two days of leave before and after the show to explore local restaurants and tourist spots. (The data suggests her approach is less niche habit and more documented travel category.)
Laura Holdsworth, Booking.com's Asia-Pacific Managing Director, saw it as a structural shift: "Global concert tours are now the most powerful catalyst for global travelers to discover new destinations and decide to travel." Travel designed around personal interests like concerts and festivals "will become increasingly sophisticated and accelerated in the future."
