Song Ga-in teases a July 2 comeback single blending Brazilian Festival House with trot—a rare hybrid for the genre.

Song Ga-in is coming back July 2 with new single 꽃이 아니면 어떤가 (subtitle: 질경이, meaning plantain).
She dropped the teaser image through her official SNS on June 15 and opened preorder sales the same day. The physical single album package includes a gatefold card, CD, photo card, bookmark, seal sticker, and letter set—all designed around plantain and wildflower motifs.
The genre is where things get interesting. Her agency describes it as a hybrid dance track built on a Brazilian Festival House foundation, layering samba house rhythm over trot sensibility. Few precedents exist for this combination in the trot space. Song Ga-in will "deliver positive energy to listeners through this new song," the agency said.
Thematically, the song draws on the plantain plant's resilience: taking root in barren ground, blooming again after being stepped on. It's framed as a message of comfort and hope for people carrying the weight of daily life quietly.
She's also joining the summer music awards alongside this release.
The comeback follows her 4th regular album 가인;달, which moved over 20,000 copies in its first week—the highest first-week sales figure recorded by a female trot artist. Her track 가인이어라 was the first trot song included in a Korean music textbook. (That placement alone signals where she sits in the genre.)
