SBS drama 'Kim Bu-jang' wraps with new identity ending and Season 2 hint; 'Chaebol X Detective 2' follows Aug. 7
So Ji-seop's SBS spy drama wrapped July 25 with Kim Bu-jang officially dead, reborn under a new name, and hinting hard at season two.
SBS's Friday-Saturday drama Kim Bu-jang signed off on July 25, closing So Ji-seop's run as the title character with a full identity reset and a combat-ready wink toward what comes next.
The finale's central crisis: villain Ju Gang-chan takes Sung Han-su's son Tae-hun and Park Jin-chul's daughter Da-bin hostage. Kim Bu-jang confronts the two fathers with a blunt line — "What are you doing, the kids are looking for dad. Just think of the kids." — before the situation resolves.
Kim Bu-jang's own resolution is permanent. He is officially declared dead and gives up his agent status. He tells his daughter they will live under new identities in a new place with changed names. She responds: "It feels like we have a secret just between the two of us. It's like we were born again." He promises he won't leave again and will always stay by her side. The two settle in a new home, with the daughter now going by Kim Ji-min.
Then comes the ending scene everyone will dissect. Kim Bu-jang walks into Baekho Manpower on his first day, referred by a teacher. The representative, Lee Do-gyu, stands up and says "Let's start with an interview" — at which point Kim Bu-jang drops into a combat stance. (The show is not exactly being subtle about what happens next.)
Off-screen, Seo Su-min, who plays Kim Bu-jang's daughter Min-ji, posted cast photos to SNS captioned "Dad and uncles," featuring So Ji-seop, Yoon Kyung-ho, and Choi Dae-hoon. A separate photo showed the three men making hand-heart poses spelling "LOVE," with the caption "Only Uncle Han-su has sunlight." Another selfie showed So Ji-seop making cat-ear poses with his hands at her request, captioned "Our dad who does anything."
The full cast includes Choi Dae-hoon as Sung Han-su. Yoon Kyung-ho plays Park Jin-chul. Yoo Ji-an is Ju Hye-ri. Jo Bok-rae rounds out the ensemble as Geum-i-bbal.
Kim Bu-jang's successor on the SBS Friday-Saturday slot is Chaebol X Detective 2, premiering August 7.
