Kim Geon-mo releases '어디쯤 가고 있을까' on July 1 — his first official new music since the 2016 album '50', and the first time he plays guitar on record.

Kim Geon-mo is back. The veteran singer releases the single 어디쯤 가고 있을까 on July 1 through online music platforms, his first official new release in 10 years.
His last album was 50 in 2016, marking his 25th-debut-anniversary record. The new track is a remake of the title song from singer Jeon Young's 1977 debut album — a song Kim has reportedly been playing alone on guitar for years as a source of personal comfort. Original composer Lee Hyun-seop and lyricist Lee Kyung-mi, a married couple, called the remake "an unexpected gift."
Here's the thing: Kim has long been known as 피아노 치는 김건모 — the piano-playing Kim Geon-mo. On this track he picks up an acoustic guitar instead, marking the first time he has played the instrument on a recording in his entire career. "I hope this becomes an opportunity to show many people a 'new Kim Geon-mo,'" he said. (Ten years is a long time to wait, and he thanked fans for their patience.)
The single arrives via Music and New. It follows a sold-out nationwide run of the 2025-2026 김건모 라이브투어, which wrapped after six months with every date fully booked.
