Lee Yeon plays hot-tempered Dong-ju in Kim Mi-jo's revenge drama alongside Lee Jung-eun, Gong Hyo-jin, and Park So-dam. Opens August 26.

Lee Yeon showed up to the Gyeongju Gigi-haeng (경주기행) production press event on July 27 at Lotte Cinema Konkuk University Station in Seoul's Gwangjin-gu with no doubt in her mind. She was signing on.
Directed by Kim Mi-jo, the film follows four mothers and daughters who spend eight years waiting for their youngest, Gyeongju, who never came home from a school trip. Then they decide on revenge. Lee Jung-eun, Gong Hyo-jin, Park So-dam, and Lee Yeon play the family unit.
Lee Yeon takes on Dong-ju—the one who throws a fist before a thought, who will put her body on the line for family first. "Dong-ju is like a son among the four sisters," she said. She attended action school and put in serious physical training for the role.
Why the quick yes? "When I read the script, tragedy and comedy were appropriately mixed, so I couldn't help but choose it." The senior cast already being locked in sealed it. Working alongside them felt like a guaranteed path to growth, with no reason to hesitate.
On the character itself, she was direct: "I thought Dong-ju was the acting I could do best. I approached it with the mindset of really playing it properly." The kind of self-assurance you want to hear before an action-heavy ensemble film.
Gyeongju Gigi-haeng opens August 26, 2026.
