A Tale of Two Cities musical returns after 12 years with new Wildhorn songs, Kai leading cast

A Tale of Two Cities is back — 12 years after its 2012 Korean premiere. The new production runs November 11, 2026 through February 8, 2027 at Gwanglim Art Center BBCH Hall, produced by Shonote.

Kai, Shin Sung-rok (신성록), and Go Eun-sung (고은성) share the role of Sydney Carton. Charles Darnay goes to Baek Hyung-hoon (백형훈), Jin Tae-hwa (진태화), and Noh Yoon (노윤). Lucie Manette is played by Seon Min (선민), Lee Ji-hye (이지혜), and Kim Su-yeon (김수연). Lee Young-mi (이영미) and Kim So-hyang (김소향) take on Madame Defarge. Kim Yong-su (김용수) plays Doctor Manette. Choi Ho-joong (최호중) is John Barsad. Shim Jae-hyun (심재현) plays Ernest Defarge. Lee Jong-moon (이종문) is Jarvis Lorry. Choi Na-rae (최나래) and Na Yu-jin (나유진) share Madame Pross. Kim Dong-hyun (김동현) rounds out the cast as Jerry Cruncher.

The script has been completely rewritten. Costumes and production elements were redesigned with a contemporary sensibility. Two new songs by Frank Wildhorn join existing numbers by Jill Santoriello — including I Can't Recall and Out of Sight, Out of Mind. One Wildhorn addition was first heard in the 2025 Japanese production before making its Korean debut here. The other premieres for the first time in this Korean production.
