Ji Yeon-soo opens up about post-divorce isolation — and the Jeju neighbor who saw past the edit

Ji Yeon-soo uploaded a Jeju travel vlog to her YouTube channel 지연수의 연수롭다 on August 31. It read less like a vacation video and more like a thank-you letter.

The video, titled 지연수 쌩얼 공개 만수 방학맞이 제주도 여행, features Moon Eun-gyeong, a Jeju local Ji Yeon-soo calls her "benefactor." Moon's daughter is a child actress who appeared in the Netflix series 폭싹 속았수다 and the film 내 이름은.

Moon described their first meeting without fanfare: "Our neighborhood is a bit rural. A celebrity I'd only seen on TV showed up, and I just went, 'Oh,' without thinking."

That instinctive warmth hit different. Ji Yeon-soo said most people hadn't reacted that way at all. "I was so lonely, so having someone greet me happily meant everything."

She traced it back to 2022. That's when she appeared on TV Chosun's 우리 이혼했어요2 with her ex-husband Elaine (일라이) of U-KISS. They married in 2014, divorced in 2020. She's been raising their son alone since. The show, she said, "was edited to chase only the most provocative moments, so I came across as that kind of person — and daily life got a little hard."

YouTube made it worse. "I was already someone weird in people's eyes because of YouTube. But Eun-gyeong saw me as a person regardless of all that."

Moon Eun-gyeong cried reading comments on Ji Yeon-soo's channel. "I thought, people are finally seeing what she's really like. I check the comments every day."
