Kim Da-hyun's 4th regular album 이모티콘 (Emoticon) drops on the 14th at 6 PM. For the first time, she wrote and composed the songs herself.
Hyun Company called it "the work Kim Da-hyun spent the most time contemplating" and "the first result of completing her own story through music, going one step further from just singing songs." Da-hyun was more direct: "I have long wanted to create my own songs and share them with fans. Although there are many shortcomings, I hope my sincerity is conveyed as it is."
The album arrives after years on the competition circuit. Runner-up on MBN's Voice Trot in 2020. Third place on TV Chosun's Tomorrow is Miss Trot 2 in 2021. A TOP3 finish on Current King of Singers and an MVP title at the Korea-Japan King of Singers tournament followed.
She's also worked in film. Her 풍기 (Punggi) advanced to the main competition at the 1st Daejeon International Dream Film Festival, where she performed at the closing ceremony and won the Popularity Award in the Acting Division. "I still feel like I'm learning," she said—which reads differently when you look at what she's actually done.
On the album, Da-hyun credited her fans directly: "I was able to come this far thanks to my fans. That's why I wanted to share songs I created myself with you."
