Lee A-hyun Opens Up About Three Marriages and Divorces, Says She Rushed Third Wedding for Her Adopted Daughters

Actress Lee A-hyun sat down for a candid interview published August 5 on the YouTube channel 새롭게하소서 — titled "Was she such a lovely person? Falling for the charm of actress Lee A-hyun" — and walked through all three of her marriages and divorces in detail.

She married for the first time in 1997, at age 26, to a non-celebrity three years her senior. "I think I was hasty," she said. "There was something like 'do it quickly', something that felt like it had to be done right away." Personality differences drove them apart.

Her second marriage came in 2006, to someone in the same industry. She described him as easygoing and noted he didn't drink, which made her trust him. But the relationship fell apart. Her husband's business failure and drug allegations compounded the strain, and they divorced in 2011.

She remarried in 2012. This time, the decision wasn't about her own desires. She had adopted two daughters during her second marriage, and they wanted a father. "The children really wanted a father at that time," she said. "I only thought about that." That marriage also ended in divorce, in 2020.

She expressed regret about her third husband specifically: "If I hadn't married him, he could have lived a simple, good life." Looking back at her first marriage, she wondered if things might have gone differently. "If I were the person I am today when I met my first husband, I don't think we would have separated." She described waking in the early morning at her mother's house, crying and praying, when she decided to end that final marriage.
