Journalist-turned-singer Shim Hyun-hee releases her fourth single on Liberation Day, closing a three-part alcohol-themed series.

Shim Hyun-hee drops 우리의 소맥 : Our Somac (Our Cheers, Our Spirits) on August 15 at noon. It wraps up the three-part alcohol series she's been building since her debut.
The trilogy started with Sauvignon Blanc in December 2025, continued with Milky-colored Makgeolli in February 2026, and now lands its finale with Our Somac. The song centers on the everyday Korean ritual of mixing soju and beer. Shim wrote and composed the track herself. Arranger Jung Hae-gwon shaped the string-heavy, classical-pop sound.
Two lines carry the weight: "If we remove necklaces and rank insignia, we are just weary people" and "The golden ratio lives in each person's heart." Shim explained the core idea plainly: "We live every day wearing the mask of titles on our own stage." She wants the moment of holding a glass of somac to be where those masks come off.
The Liberation Day release date is deliberate. "I hope this song becomes a brilliant toast of liberation that gifts a moment of freedom to all those who have endured a weary day on the stage of life," she said.
Shim is a working journalist and alcohol expert with two alcohol-related books and a running column. Her "Journal Art" practice reinterprets her reporting, columns, and real experiences as music. In May she released her first EP alongside her third book 연결하는 인간 and a wine product 심현희 와인. She also recently launched Golmok Makgeolli, a collaboration drink that physically realizes one of her songs. The trilogy is now complete.
