Silica Gel premieres 'Accident' live at Apple Myeongdong ahead of first Asia tour

Silica Gel performed 'Accident' live for the first time at Apple Myeongdong in Seoul's Jung-gu on August 9. The four-piece was previewing a song from their upcoming third full-length album Ballad of You.

Kim Geon-jae, Kim Han-joo, Kim Chun-choo, and Choi Woong-hee all appeared at the Today at Apple event, with music critic Kim Yun-ha moderating. Kim Han-joo, the band's vocalist and keyboard player, had done a solo session there last year. "This time I'm happy to present a good stage together with Silica Gel members," he said.

The band walked through the album's visual concept. The cover uses ASCII art made from computer text and special characters. Their in-house video team hand-drew each element to create a motion cover for Apple Music.

Choi Woong-hee, the composer and bassist, relies on iPad's GoodNotes for his entire score process. Kim Han-joo calls his MacBook "Han-joo's Brain"—every project he touches lives on it.

Ballad of You arrives in the second half of 2026, followed by the band's first Asia tour. Kim Han-joo confirmed they plan to perform every song from the album live on that run. Three Musician of the Year wins at the 2024 Korean Popular Music Awards set the bar pretty high for what "every song" needs to clear.

Silica Gel formed during university and debuted in 2015 with the mini-album Newly Reconsidered Five Perspectives of Weightless Deer.
