Kim You-jung goes undercover in colonial Seoul

Kim You-jung leads 100 Days of Lies, a tvN Saturday-Sunday drama premiering October 10 at 9:10 PM. Set in colonial-era Seoul, the 16-episode espionage romance marks tvN's 20th anniversary special project.

She plays Lee Ga-kyung, Seoul's greatest pickpocket turned spy. To infiltrate the Joseon Governor-General's Office, she hides her background, status, and real name behind the alias interpreter trainee Geum Seo-hee. Park Jin-young (GOT7) plays Kim Tae-woong, a newly appointed elite interpreter who carries a second identity: Sato Hideo, adopted son of the Governor-General's Chief Secretary. He exists between two worlds.

Ryu Bo-ri wrote the drama. Yu In-sik and Kim Yun-jin direct.

What the leads said

Still images released on the 16th showed both characters inside the Governor-General's Office. Kim You-jung spoke about reading the script: "I read it without noticing time passing. I felt the depth of the story and thought a lot while recalling those who lived in that era."

On Lee Ga-kyung, she called the character "a representative of young people of that era" and said she was curious what thoughts, will, and dreams young people held at the time. Her co-star helped shape that performance. "Because Park Jin-young was there, I could better develop the character of Ga-kyung."

Park Jin-young described Kim Tae-woong as "a character experiencing identity confusion between 'Hideo' and 'Tae-woong'" and asked viewers to watch how he changes after meeting Ga-kyung. He gave the same credit back: "Kim You-jung was the center of the set more than anyone."

A teaser video showed Kim Tae-woong clocking the pattern of their repeated encounters: "A pickpocket, someone who doesn't sleep, and now a Government-General interpreter."

100 Days of Lies premieres October 10 on tvN.
