Lee Seung-chul's 40-year career gets a three-part KBS Chuseok special — documentary, variety, and concert
KBS 2TV is marking Lee Seung-chul's 40th debut anniversary with a documentary that aired Sept. 15, a variety show on Sept. 21, and a live concert on Sept. 24.
KBS maps out 40 years in three formats
Lee Seung-chul's 40th debut anniversary unfolds across 2026 KBS 2TV 한가위 대기획 '당신의 삶은 네버엔딩스토리 - 이승철', a Chuseok special that splits his life and music into documentary, variety, and concert.
Never Ending Lee Seung-chul aired on KBS 2TV on September 15. The variety program 배송왔송 follows on September 21. The concert Never Ending Story - Lee Seung-chul closes it out on September 24.
From Bukhwal to solo, and back to the stage
Lee Seung-chul was the vocalist of rock band Bukhwal. 희야 ("Hee-ya") made his name. His solo work brought 안녕이라고 말하지 마 ("Don't Say Goodbye") and others.
The documentary revealed how he handled a broadcast hiatus. He chose concert stages over TV appearances. Movie appearance fees went straight into concert production costs. (Funneling your acting paycheck into your own stage budget says something.)
The pre-show ritual that's held for four decades
One sequence shows Lee arriving early at regional venues to personally check sound and stage setup before each performance. The program frames this as central to his 40-year run.
KBS presents the full project under 당신의 삶은 네버엔딩스토리 - 이승철, with each format handling a distinct dimension of his career.
