North West takes the stage solo in Chicago

North West held her first solo concert on September 5 at the Big Theatre in Chicago, performing tracks from her debut EP N0rth4evr and unreleased material. Both parents showed up. Kim Kardashian sat with friends. Kanye West watched from the balcony with his team.

They divorced in 2022 after marrying in 2014 and share four children.

A tour that fell apart

The Chicago show was supposed to be bigger. North was originally scheduled to tour with rapper Molly Santana across Texas and Canada, but the dates got cancelled.

This solo debut came after a guest spot at Kanye West's comeback concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in August, where she performed Talking and Piercing on My Hand.

Kanye's custody complaints

The concert landed amid Kanye's public statements about parental rights. He has accused what he calls "the Kardashian group" of stripping him of control over his children.

"I don't have the right to decide what my children wear or who they associate with. I don't just want to see my children. I want to raise them."

He also said: "My daughters wear lipstick and perfume." (Whether that's a complaint or a brag depends on who's reading.)

Kardashian and West have two sons and two daughters.
