Gyeongbuk Province brings K-pop and hip-hop contest to Cheongsong, with more youth events to follow
Fifty teams filled every seat at Cheongsong's finals on Oct. 16, as Gyeongbuk Province expands its K-pop & hip-hop contest into smaller cities.

50 teams, one stage in Cheongsong
Gyeongbuk Province held the finals of the 3rd National K-pop & Hip-hop Contest at Cheongsong-gun Cultural Arts Center on October 16. Fifty teams entered from across the country — 24 vocal acts and 26 dance crews. Sixteen advanced through preliminaries to compete on the finals stage. All 500 seats were filled.
Daegyeong University organized the event for Gyeongbuk Province.
Regional reach grows from 11 cities to 17
This is part of the province's K-U City cultural content project. Last year it covered 11 municipalities. This year, 17. The expansion is framed as a direct response to the gap between urban and rural cultural access.
Park Seon-young, Director of the University and Youth Division at Gyeongbuk Province, was direct: "Geographic distance should not lead to cultural disparity."
"We will expand diverse cultural content throughout the province to create an environment where young people want to stay in the region."
— Park Seon-young, Gyeongbuk Province University and Youth Division Director
What's next on the calendar
Three more events are scheduled before the month is out:
- October 23 — K-U City Youth AI Film Festival, Gimcheon
- October 29 — Youth Concert, Gyeongsan
- November 4 — Youth Concert, Goryeong
That's four cities in under three weeks.
