Kim Gura clarifies son Gri's marriage rumors: "He has a girlfriend, but it's not marriage"
Kim Gura used an Oct. 11 YouTube livestream to clarify: his son Gri is dating, but that viral "getting married" video was scripted content, not an engagement announcement.

The clarification nobody expected from a stock livestream
Kim Gura addressed his son Gri's marriage rumors mid-episode during 김구라 경제연구소 EP.120, a stock market live broadcast on the GreeGura YouTube channel posted October 11. The topic had nothing to do with Samsung Electronics — but he went there anyway.
"Of course he has a girlfriend he's dating now, but it's not about marriage," Kim Gura said on air. He traced the speculation back to Gri's August video on the 김그리 channel titled 여러분 저 이제 결혼하려구요 ("Everyone, I'm getting married now"). The video showed Gri touring newlywed apartments with broadcaster Nam Chang-hee under a prospective-groom concept. A second video cast comedian Jo Hye-ryeon as a fictional future mother-in-law for a skit where Gri asks for marriage permission.
Kim Gura's explanation was blunt:
"YouTube is very competitive these days. So we set up that kind of scenario to look at newlywed homes and such."
He compared the whole bit to a 부캐 (sub-character persona) — specifically invoking "Tanaka," a well-known alter-ego format in Korean entertainment. The August video itself included a disclaimer subtitle stating the content "was produced based on a fictional setting" and had "no relation to actual circumstances."
What's actually confirmed
Gri (Kim Dong-hyeon, born 1998) has been open on his own channel about dating his girlfriend long-term and thinking about marriage — so the relationship itself isn't news. What Kim Gura shot down is the leap from YouTube content to an actual engagement. In March, Gri and his girlfriend were spotted together at Nam Chang-hee's wedding, footage that surfaced through Hong Jin-kyung's YouTube channel.
Gri grew up appearing on variety shows alongside his father before debuting as a rapper and expanding into broadcasting. The father-son GreeGura channel is where Kim Gura runs his economics content — which, apparently, now doubles as a rumor-correction venue.
