Lee Soo-man's A2O Light hits Melon #1 in one day, collects 56 ad offers by day two
Lee Soo-man's 9-member girl group A2O Light hit No. 1 on Melon the day after debut—the fastest since the chart's reorganization.

One day. One chart. Fifty-six brands calling.
A2O Light debuted yesterday. The 9-member girl group from Lee Soo-man's newly founded agency A2O Entertainment released their single NEON and by the next day, it sat at No. 1 on the Melon Top 100—the fastest any act has reached the top since the chart was reorganized. Within 48 hours, the group had fielded 56 advertisement proposals.
Listeners are already calling it a "new SAT banned song," Korean internet shorthand for a track so addictive it would wreck your study session. A new term emerged too: 수만코어 (Suman-core), describing the specific aesthetic tied to Lee Soo-man's creative fingerprint.
The 3-year road back
Lee Soo-man, 74, founded SM Entertainment before being pushed out in 2023. He then relocated to the Chinese-speaking market. Now he's back in Korea after three years, launching A2O Entertainment with two acts: A2O Light and A2O Soul, a 15-member boy group. Both rosters feature a significant number of Chinese members.
Online chatter has been intense. Internet users are reportedly asking Lee Soo-man to keep making groups until he turns 100. (At this rate, he might actually consider it.)
A2O Light's debut numbers—same-day chart summit, flood of brand inquiries within 48 hours—mark one of the more striking rookie launches in recent memory.
