Song Joong-ki jokes he's the only one for a 'master' role on SBS's 'Geojang Hangjun'
Song Joong-ki, now a father of two, lobbied a '16 million-viewer director' for a prestige role on the Oct. 22 SBS broadcast of 'Geojang Hangjun.'

Song Joong-ki makes his pitch
Song Joong-ki turned into a full-on self-promoter during the October 22 SBS broadcast of Geojang Hangjun. He told the director—in front of everyone—that he had bigger plans. "I feel something has changed now that you've become a '16 million-viewer director,'" he said. "Shouldn't you cast a 'master' role? I don't think there are many people like me, so I'll talk seriously with you when people aren't around."
The actor married British actress Katie Louise Saunders in 2023. He's now a father of one son and one daughter. Throughout the episode, he rode that dad-era confidence hard.
The rest of the cast, also lobbying hard
Song Joong-ki wasn't alone. Shim Eun-kyung reminded the director of something he'd told her years ago: "Eun-kyung, you're a superstar, so hold your head high." She's still waiting. "I keep thinking deep down that you'll call me someday."
Seol Hyun cut through it. "Even if it's a small role, if you call me, I'll run to you."
Kim Ui-sung went self-deprecating, joking he'd need to show up with 20 coffee trucks just to land a spot. Jang Hyun-sung chose quiet menace instead: "You probably know. That I hold some of your history. Don't forget."
Comedian Jang Do-yeon noticed the director's upgraded taste ("You were drinking whiskey") and wrapped it up simple: "Please, just use me once."
The whole episode was a very public audition reel. Nobody pretended it wasn't.
