Jeon Do-yeon Is Now the Face of cepoLAB — Here's the Product Behind It
Jeon Do-yeon as a beauty muse makes complete sense once you know what cepoLAB is actually selling. The brand, run by biotech company Fugen Bio, tapped the actress specifically because her image — understated, deepening with time, unbothered by flash — mirrors the brand's own philosophy. They call it "cho-gicho" (초기초): a compound of the Korean characters for "first" and "excellence," meaning that getting the foundation right is what creates lasting results. It's less of a tagline and more of a positioning statement against the whole overcomplicated, 12-step-routine era of K-beauty.
The product Jeon Do-yeon fronts is the cepoLAB Biogenic Essence, and it's positioned as a pre-care essence — meaning you use it immediately after cleansing, before anything else in your routine. The idea is that the very first step sets the condition for everything that follows. As of the first half of this year, the essence has sold a cumulative 8 million bottles and hit 200 billion KRW in cumulative revenue. That's not a niche cult product — that's a brand with serious traction that most global K-beauty followers haven't caught up to yet.

What's actually in it is worth knowing. The key ingredient is CLEPS (클렙스), a bio-material derived from a rare microorganism called Ceriporia lacerata. Fugen Bio originally researched this organism in the context of diabetes and anti-aging — specifically, the link between declining cellular metabolic function and the aging process. CLEPS is said to activate cellular sugar consumption and support anti-glycation and anti-aging at the skin level. The essence contains 92.8% CLEPS, and the formula excludes artificial fragrance, artificial colorants, and chemical preservatives. Eco-conscious packaging and manufacturing processes are part of the pitch too.
The global expansion angle is real and moving fast: cepoLAB is heading into approximately 250 Costco locations across the US in November, following pushes into major Asian markets and ongoing plans for Europe. Jeon Do-yeon's appointment as brand muse is clearly timed to support that international visibility push — her name carries weight well beyond Korea. If you've been sleeping on this one, the Costco rollout is probably your easiest entry point to try it without a Korean shipping detour.
