RESCENE Is K-Beauty's Newest Multi-Brand Power Move

Aiko Tanaka·9/15/2026, 2:11:27 PM

Girl group RESCENE (리센느) just pulled off something that even established fourth-gen groups took years to build: simultaneous ambassador deals across three different beauty categories, each with a different brand, each targeting a different product story. Skincare, haircare, and a full rebrand campaign — all at once. The beauty industry doesn't hand that out to just anyone.

Here's the breakdown of who signed who and why it matters:

Biodance x Wonyi (leader) — Collagen Skincare
Biodance named RESCENE's leader Wonyi as their new ambassador, anchoring her to their "My First Collagen" campaign. The angle is deliberate: Biodance is repositioning collagen as a daily skincare ingredient for 20s–30s consumers, not just an anti-aging fix for older demographics. Wonyi's actual makeup routine reportedly incorporates Biodance collagen products, and the brand is leaning into that with the phrase "makeup-absorbing collagen" (화잘먹 콜라겐) as a campaign hook. It's a smart pairing — a leader known for consistency fronting a brand built around daily habit-forming skincare.

Hanskin x Minami and Jenna — PDRN Serum Rebrand
Hanskin tapped members Minami and Jenna for a full rebranding campaign built around the slogan "Unleash the pink potential within you." The hero product is the Ara Lotus PDRN Hyaluronic Radiance Serum, which features a pink-ball formulation that the campaign visuals are built around. Hanskin is using this partnership to push awareness of their skincare and cleansing lines through Olive Young and Musinsa — both online and offline. The brand has heritage; RESCENE has the comeback momentum. Hanskin is explicitly connecting those two narratives.

Ape (에이페) x RESCENE (full group) — Scalp and Hair
The whole group fronts Ape, a high-function hair solution brand. Products in the lineup include the Scalp Boosting Ampoule, Hair Clinic Treatment Booster, and Frizz Silky Smoothing Hair Mist. Ape is running "What's in My Bag" content featuring the members' daily hair care routines — the kind of low-key product placement that hits differently when the group's aesthetic is already living rent-free in people's heads.

The reason all three brands moved at roughly the same time comes down to one song: "LOVE ATTACK." Nearly two years after its original release, it hit No. 1 on Melon's TOP 100 on July 8 — a full chart reverse that turned RESCENE from a niche fandom pick into a mainstream name overnight. That kind of organic virality is exactly what beauty brands want attached to their campaigns, because it signals real cultural traction rather than manufactured hype.

Member-specific moments also helped. Minami's "Geoje Yaho" meme and Jenna's Gyeongju dialect content spread beyond the fandom into general social media, which is the crossover moment brands wait for. The Korea Corporate Reputation Institute's big-data brand reputation ranking for rookie idol groups (measured June 1 – July 1) placed RESCENE at No. 1 — which is the kind of third-party data point that closes a brand deal.

The pattern here is worth noting: IVE, aespa, and LE SSERAFIM all followed a similar trajectory — mainstream recognition leads to beauty brand deals, which then reinforce the mainstream image in a loop. RESCENE is now entering that loop, and the fact that they're doing it across skincare AND haircare simultaneously (rather than one brand at a time) suggests the industry is betting on them at scale, not just testing the waters.

If you're already a fan, the Biodance collagen line and the Hanskin PDRN serum are the two products most directly tied to the members' personal routines and campaign narratives — those are the ones worth actually looking up rather than just saving for the aesthetic.
