BTS 'ARIRANG' hits 3.8B streams in 8 weeks as US physical sales reach 810K units

ARIRANG, BTS's fifth studio album released March 20, accumulated 3.8 billion streams on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music in the eight weeks through May 14. The group's full catalog cleared 5.3 billion streams in that same window.

Latin America drove the numbers at 27% of streams. East/Northeast Asia followed at 17%, North America at 14%, Southeast Asia at 13%, and Europe at 12%.

SWIM crossed 500 million cumulative Spotify plays as of May 26. No song released anywhere in the world in 2024 had reached that mark before it. Every track on the album surpassed 100 million streams individually. Body to Body and Hooligan each hit 200 million.

Physical sales in the US totaled 810,000 CD and LP units, putting BTS first by a significant margin.

Fan-engagement metrics tracked since 2021 hit record highs across every category. The "active participation" layer reached 26%, up 2–5 percentage points from 2021. "Strong attachment" hit 15%. Super fans accounted for 9%. The favorable-impression layer rose 10 points to 44%; the listener layer rose 4 points to 32%.

A newly identified audience segment—hip-hop-oriented listeners with low overall K-pop consumption who still regularly stream BTS—accounts for roughly 7% of people aware of the group. Hispanic and Latin listeners make up 38% of that segment. A separate consumer group recognizes BTS as trendsetters without direct fan activity and was measured at 19%.

(The Latin America streaming share and the Hispanic/Latin listener data are telling the same story from two different angles.)

BigHit Music said the figures show BTS "maintaining high loyalty from core fans while continuously attracting new consumer groups and expanding public reach," adding that the group is "connecting with more audiences and expanding their foundation" from a solid fanbase.
