A North Korean defector's struggle to build a life in Seoul. Danish director Fredrik Schøberg's *Hana Korea* arrives July 8.

Hana Korea opens July 8 — a 105-minute Korea-Denmark co-production following Hyesun, a North Korean defector woman trying to find her footing in Seoul.
Danish writer-director Fredrik Schøberg interviewed roughly 30 North Korean defectors over five years before making the film. It won the audience award in the Flash Forward section at the 30th Busan International Film Festival. A press screening and press conference took place June 26 at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall. Triple Pictures is handling distribution.
Kim Min-ha, known internationally from Apple TV+'s Pachinko, plays Hyesun, who dreams of becoming a nurse. In the film, she says: "I don't care if it's difficult. I will do it." Before Pachinko, Kim appeared in School 2017, Partners for Justice, Spring Turns to Spring, and Call. She then moved on to Pachinko Season 2, The Lamp Shop, and One Week Before I Die.
Kim Joo-ryung plays Suk-hee, a woman who left her husband and son behind. She made an impression as Han Mi-nyeo in Netflix's Squid Game. Her credits span Silenced, Sleepless Night, SKY Castle, Mr. Sunshine, Casino, and Queen of Tears.
Ahn Seo-hyun, who played Mija in Bong Joon-ho's Okja, takes on Bo-mi, a character who grew up in China before moving to South Korea. She has worked since childhood in films like The Housemaid, Commitment, Dream High, and TV Novel Dandelion.
The film ends with a question: "Will I ever be able to call this place my home?"
