AtHeart's Bom, Seohyun & Nahyun turn 300-year-old sijo poetry into K-pop with 'My Heart, A Piece'

AtHeart members Bom, Seohyun, and Nahyun released 내 마음 한 조각 (My Heart, A Piece) on August 11. The track pulls from sijo poems roughly 300 years old.

Behind it sits the Cheonguuyeongeon K-Pop Modernization Project, backed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Hangeul Museum as part of the 2026 Hangeul Cultural Product and Content Development Support Project. The Sejong City Culture and Tourism Foundation organized the effort. Its target: listeners aged 10 to 20, encountering the beauty of Hangeul and traditional Korean song lyrics without it feeling like homework.

Three sijo from the classical anthology Cheonguuyeongeon shaped the lyrics. Jeong Cheol's 내 마음 베어 내어 captures longing for a loved one while gazing at the moon. His 재 너머 성권농 집에 celebrates the joy of rushing to a friend's news. Kim Gwang-uk's 봄바람 슬쩍 불어 traces the bittersweetness of seasonal change. All three got reconstructed in contemporary Korean. Musically, synth-pop took over—easy listening fused with 1980s city pop sensibility. The music video arrived August 13 on AtHeart's official YouTube channel.

This sits apart from AtHeart's Time Travel Project, which reinterprets famous songs released in 1996. (Two very different eras, one busy August.) The project's second single, 3! 4!—a cover of a Rula summer track from 1996—drops globally on August 19 at 6 PM across music streaming platforms.
