BTS announces Grammy boycott, says works will not be submitted to the 69th Grammy Awards

BTS will not be entering the 69th Grammy Awards. On July 29, all seven members posted a statement across their personal social media accounts confirming the decision.

"We hope that music is heard and loved for the music itself rather than being divided by region or language," the members wrote. They also thanked ARMY and "everyone who has been with us."

The announcement comes as the group's fifth studio album ARIRANG, released in March, sits at number 26 on the Billboard 200 as of the July 25 chart update. The album's title track SWIM reached number 100 on the Hot 100 in the same chart cycle.

(A top-30 Billboard 200 placement months after release paired with a deliberate Grammy withdrawal says plenty.)

BTS is set to continue their world tour in North America beginning in August.
