Choi Soo-young and Jung Kyung-ho split after 14-year relationship

Choi Soo-young and actor Jung Kyung-ho have ended their 14-year public relationship. Both sides' agencies confirmed the split, stating: "The two have ended their romantic relationship and decided to remain as good colleagues."

The news broke on July 13 as Soo-young, a Girls' Generation member and working actress, showed up at the OK Madam 2 production report meeting at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. That same day she posted about her ongoing stage run on SNS.

She is currently performing in the play The Merchant of Venice, playing Portia. On July 13, she wrote: "The first week of performances has ended. Time passes so quickly when performing" — borrowing Portia's lines to add, "I wish to attach weights to time and slow its steps." She also said she plans to "enjoy every second happily" through the remaining month-plus of shows.

OK Madam 2 opens in August. Soo-young plays Anya, the head of a crime organization and a villain who terrorizes a luxury cruise. She said she was "very happy" when first offered the role and "had a strong desire to make it unconventional," contributing ideas on costumes and wanting to preserve what she called Anya's childlike qualities. She wanted "a female villain with both charisma and humor," not just someone scary. Female villain roles, she noted, "exist but are not abundant."
