Songgolmae's frontman returns with a 14-track special album on July 14—his first official release since 1989's fifth album *Sad Yearning*.

Gu Chang-mo releases special album Memory & Future on July 14 at noon through online music platforms. Thirty-six years since his last official work, the 1989 fifth album Sad Yearning (슬픈연정).
Fourteen tracks make up the album. Twelve are hit songs spanning his Songgolmae years and solo career. Two are newly produced. The title track, Again Meeting You (또다시 마주친 그대), directly references How We Met by Chance (어쩌다 마주친 그대)—the title track from Songgolmae's second album, which Gu Chang-mo wrote and composed. The second new song, Lover of Planet Earth (지구별의 연인), shifts direction entirely: a vocal-style piece with CCM influences.
Music critic Lim Jin-mo called the album's merit "truly admirable in its youth," spanning both the new songs and his earlier hits. He described it as "a welcome gift to the public who have longed for Gu Chang-mo for so long."
July 14 also brings a live broadcast on YouTube channel Suwajin TV at 8 PM. Gu Chang-mo will perform five songs—the new title track, How We Met by Chance, Heenari (희나리), and Agaege (아가에게)—and discuss why he abandoned music at the height of his solo career to become a businessman, what filled those 36 years, and where his music goes next.
His career began in 1978 at the TBC Beach Song Festival, competing with Black Tetra and winning the popularity award for Cloud and Me (구름과 나). He fronted Songgolmae as lead vocalist and main composer, delivering hits like Everyone Will Love (모두 다 사랑하리) and The Moment I First Saw You (처음 본 순간). His solo work—Heenari, Matured as Much as It Hurts (아픈 만큼 성숙해지고), and Open the Door (문을 열어)—established him as a vocalist with cross-generational reach before he stepped away entirely.
