ILLIT released their Japanese single I Got Your Back on July 26 at 8 PM — their second single since officially debuting in Japan last year.
Jisoo and Momoka from Japanese rookie girl group HANA appear on the title track. They didn't just show up to rap. They wrote their own lyrics and delivered the song's message in their own words.
The MV teaser opens with ILLIT's members banding together to rescue Wonhee, who's been captured by a monster. Jisoo and Momoka arrive mid-chaos to say "You're not alone" and "I'm with you." Given they wrote those lines themselves, the moment hits different.
I Got Your Back also serves as the opening theme for Bakansu no Housoku, an Abema original drama that premiered July 27 on the Japanese OTT platform. The single's second track, Sunday Morning, is the opening theme for Season 2 of the TV anime Kōjo-sama "Gomon" no Jikan desu. Two sync placements on one single.
