Iru's "Kaman Angyeong" hits #1 on karaoke chart 20 years after release, spotlighted on SBS variety show

Twenty years after release, Iru's ballad 까만 안경 sits at #1 on karaoke charts.

The song appeared on the July 5 broadcast of SBS variety program 미운 우리 새끼. Singers Lin (린) and K.Will (케이윌)—close friends of the same age—were shown browsing a karaoke chart on screen. 까만 안경 was at the top. A cast member reacted: "A masterpiece is always loved."

Iru released the track as the title song from her second studio album in October 2006. Yoon Myung-seon (윤명선) wrote and composed it. This year marks two decades since.

The song has found new life recently. Singer Taphyeon (탑현) dropped a remake single in April. The cover video on YouTube channel 탑현월드 had crossed 4.92 million views by July 6.

Iru's father, singer Tae Jin-a (태진아), weighed in: "That 까만 안경 sung by Iru with sincerity has given comfort and been loved by the people for 20 years is an incomparable glory of the family."

Iru was also scheduled to appear on TV Chosun's 조선의 사랑꾼 5th anniversary special 조선의 사랑꾼 노래자랑 on July 6, performing a duet of 옥경이 with Tae Jin-a.
