Ji Sang-ryeol returns as rapper G.C Hammer 20 years later on KBS2's Living with Men S2

Ji Sang-ryeol is back as G.C Hammer. Twenty years after the character first appeared.

The KBS 2TV variety show 살림하는 남자들 시즌2 aired the G.C Hammer comeback project on July 4 at 10:35 PM. G.C Hammer debuted in 2007 with 클럽 아리랑 (Club Arirang), a track that fused hip-hop with Korean traditional music, and climbed to No. 13 on the music charts before Ji Sang-ryeol's identity behind the faceless rapper persona was eventually revealed.

For the revival, Ji Sang-ryeol recreated the original costume and styling at 99.9%, walking into the studio and immediately calling out MC Eun Ji-won: "라이벌 은지원, 보고 있냐" (Rival Eun Ji-won, are you watching). The two were active around the same period. On another broadcast, Ji Sang-ryeol had previously admitted the project missed the mark — "전문 용어로 헛질한 거다" — so the comeback carries some unfinished business.

To test whether 클럽 아리랑 still lands in 2026, Ji Sang-ryeol visited a club in Hongdae, described as a go-to spot for the MZ generation. He played the song for a working DJ and asked for an honest evaluation. Then he got the chance to have the track played at the actual club. Whether a 2007 hip-hop/gugak hybrid survives a Hongdae dancefloor in 2026 is the whole premise.

Back in the studio, MC Lee Yo-won shed tears while watching Ji Sang-ryeol perform the rap. The show described it as a full-on "눈물 사태" (tear incident).
