Ji Yeon-su opens up about solo parenting after divorce: "I feel like a soldier"

Ji Yeon-su laid out the reality of single parenthood in a video uploaded to her YouTube channel Yeonsuropda on July 13, titled "The Reason Ji Yeon-su Can't Hug Her Son Minsu."

She married Eli of U-KISS in 2014. They divorced in 2020, and she has been raising their son Minsu on her own since. Eli remarried a non-celebrity woman on the 14th of last month.

In the video, Ji Yeon-su walked through her daily schedule in detail. She wakes at 7 AM, prepares breakfast for Minsu, gets him washed and dressed, drops him at school, then starts her own day. Work runs until 8:30 PM. Back home, dinner and childcare push the clock to 11 PM — and Minsu doesn't fall asleep until 11:30. Only then does she wash herself and clean the house.

"I don't even have time to take care of myself," she said. "Where is there room for that? There isn't."

She put the grind in perspective with a wry comparison: "What Minsu and I have in common is that we both have 24 hours. I seem to divide 30 hours for myself."

The relentless pace has left its mark. "I sometimes wondered if I lost my female hormones," she admitted. "Sometimes I feel like a soldier." She was quick to clarify, though: "There are times when I want to be a woman."
